Thursday, 10/11, 6-7P (1231 EB2) – ACM/AITP TechTalk: Robotics Process Automation & Innovation – ACM/AITP @ NCSU presents Ambrish Patel & John Bungert, veteran software professionals. Patel leads the software development of the Robotics Process Automation team at MetLife. Bungert oversees the MetLife Digital Accelerator, which works with high-potential startups to advance MetLife technology.

The talk will cover the future plans and use cases of Robotics Process Automation, and how the Innovation team promotes business through technology startups.

 Enjoy a great talk, free pizza and refreshments – this talk qualifies for grad seminar credit.


Saturday, 10/13, 9A-2P (Campus Wide) – University Open House – 
Attending the NC State University Open House is a great way for prospective students and their parents to learn about the university and its programs. The College of Engineering buildings on Centennial Campus are open throughout the event, including the CSC wing. More info here!
ON THE HORIZON

Monday, 10/15, 12-4P (EB2 East Atrium) – Credit Suisse Atrium Event – Stop by and learn about career opportunities at Credit Suisse. We will have representatives on site seeking candidates for job posting #104247. It is an internship and we are looking for college juniors to join us. The internship will lead into a full time rotational Tech program offer. Those who receive returning offers will join us full time after their senior year. We are looking for STEM degree undergraduates. We will provide food for the event!

Tuesday, 10/16, 3:30-5:30P (530 Venture II) – CSC GSA Tea Time – This is a no-pressure, social opportunity to relax with other students and faculty and enjoy some nice teas while away from your labs and work! Tea will be provided, but we also encourage you to bring your own favorite flavors. All CSC graduate students, faculty and staff are welcome to attend!

Tuesday, 10/16, 6-7:30P (1231 EB2) – SugarCRM Info Session – We are looking for interns, full-time employees. For interns, preferably sophomore and above. Full-time opportunities, we are looking with someone who has a BS and above. U.S. citizens or green card holders. Planning to provide refreshments.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
IBM PhD Fellowship Program: IBM is pleased to announce the 2019 Two-Year Worldwide IBM PhD Fellowship for the academic years of 2019-2020 and 2020-2021. Strong collaboration with faculty, students and universities is vital to IBM. The IBM PhD Fellowship Program advances this collaboration by recognizing and supporting exceptional PhD students who want to make their mark in promising and disruptive technologies. Focus areas include:  AI / Cognitive Computing, Blockchain, Cloud Computing, Data Science / Big Data / Analytics, Internet of things, Quantum Computing, Security.  In the US, fellowship recipients while in school will receive a stipend for living expenses, travel and to attend conferences ($35,000 for 2019-2020 and $35,000 for 2020-2021). Fellowship recipients will also receive $25,000 toward their education in 2019-2020. Students should have three years remaining in their graduate program at the time of nomination.
